Ownership

Getting started

John makes regular trips to the sales and has bought 95% of the horses who have won for the yard.

Race horse ownership is no longer the preserve of the rich. There are many different routes to owning a horse in training.

Owners are welcome to the yard and John is always available to talk to you about how your horse is progressing and to discuss future race plans. If your horse is not good enough we feel it is best to let you know rather than have you fill a stable for the sake of it. If our owners are winning it means we are doing our job well. We want all our owners to find success and work hard to always improve the quality of horses we train.

Sole ownership

Owning a race horse allows you to have full contact with many aspects of your horses training and racing.

You will have the opportunity to be there from the very beginning from the initial purchase of your horse. You will be registered with Weatherbys as an owner and enjoy all the benefits that accompany this:

  • Choosing your own unique colours
  • Naming your horse( if bought unnamed)
  • Complimentary owners badges when your horse runs
  • Watching your horse work at Court stud

Racing Syndicates

Up to 20 people can get together a racing syndicate. It spreads the costs between the group and always ensures that there is a ready made party when you do have a winner!

We can arrange they set up of a syndicate for you and set you on your way to an affordable way to enjoy horse ownership.

Company ownership

As an extension to your corporate branding why not name a horse after your company or a product you wish to promote? It is a great way to promote your business and also doubles up as a team building tool with staff and can be used to forge customer loyalty with a day at the races to cheer on the company horse.

Leasing

You can lease a horse for a short term (usually one year)

Or for a one off corporate event – eg. For a festival day or to coincide with the launch of a product or company. We can arrange all the details for you. It's a great way to boost morale for your employees and to build loyalty through corporate entertainment with your customers.
